Proclamation news and gatherence

The Mother Mary, Allah, Islam reading.

[19:1]
Kaf. Ha. Ya. A’in. Sad.

[19:2]
A mention of the mercy of thy Lord unto His servant Zachariah.

[19:3]
When he cried unto his Lord a cry in secret,

[19:4]
Saying: My Lord! Lo! the bones of me wax feeble and my head is shining with grey hair, and I have never been unblest in prayer to Thee, my Lord.

[19:5]
Lo! I fear my kinsfolk after me, since my wife is barren. Oh, give me from Thy presence a successor

[19:6]
Who shall inherit of me and inherit (also) of the house of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, acceptable (unto Thee).

[19:7]
(It was said unto him): O Zachariah! Lo! We bring thee tidings of a son whose name is John; we have given the same name to none before (him).

[19:8]
He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age ?

[19:9]
He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me, even as I created thee before, when thou wast naught.

[19:10]
He said: My Lord! Appoint for me some token. He said: Thy token is that thou, with no bodily defect, shalt not speak unto mankind three nights.

[19:11]
Then he came forth unto his people from the sanctuary, and signified to them: Glorify your Lord at break of day and fall of night.

[19:12]
(And it was said unto his son): O John! Hold fast the Scripture. And we gave him wisdom when a child,

[19:13]
And compassion from Our presence, and purity; and he was devout,

[19:14]
And dutiful toward his parents. And he was not arrogant, rebellious.

[19:15]
Peace on him the day he was born, and the day he dieth and the day he shall be raised alive!

[19:16]
And make mention of Mary in the Scripture, when she had withdrawn from her people to a chamber looking East,

[19:17]
And had chosen seclusion from them. Then We sent unto her Our Spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man.

[19:18]
She said: Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if thou art God-fearing.

[19:19]
He said: I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee a faultless son.

[19:20]
She said: How can I have a son when no mortal hath touched me, neither have I been unchaste ?

[19:21]
He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me. And (it will be) that We may make of him a revelation for mankind and a mercy from Us, and it is a thing ordained.

[19:22]
And she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place.

[19:23]
And the pangs of childbirth drove her unto the trunk of the palm- tree. She said: Oh, would that I had died ere this and had become a thing of naught, forgotten!

[19:24]
Then (one) cried unto her from below her, saying: Grieve not! Thy Lord hath placed a rivulet beneath thee,

[19:25]
And shake the trunk of the palm-tree toward thee, thou wilt cause ripe dates to fall upon thee.

[19:26]
So eat and drink and be consoled. And if thou meetest any mortal, say: Lo! I have vowed a fast unto the Beneficent, and may not speak this day to any mortal.

[19:27]
Then she brought him to her own folk, carrying him. They said: O Mary! Thou hast come with an amazing thing.

[19:28]
O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a wicked man nor was thy mother a harlot.

[19:29]
Then she pointed to him. They said: How can we talk to one who is in the cradle, a young boy ?

[19:30]
He spake: Lo! I am the slave of Allah. He hath given me the Scripture and hath appointed me a Prophet,

[19:31]
And hath made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and hath enjoined upon me prayer and almsgiving so long as I remain alive,

[19:32]
And (hath made me) dutiful toward her who bore me, and hath not made me arrogant, unblest.

[19:33]
Peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!

[19:34]
Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt.

[19:35]
It befitteth not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should take unto Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is.

[19:36]
And lo! Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So serve Him. That is the right path.

[19:37]
The sects among them differ: but woe unto the disbelievers from the meeting of an awful Day.

[19:38]
See and hear them on the Day they come unto Us! yet the evil-doers are to-day in error manifest.

[19:39]
And warn them of the Day of anguish when the case hath been decided. Now they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.

[19:40]
Lo! We, only We, inherit the earth and all who are thereon, and unto Us they are returned.

[19:41]
And make mention (O Muhammad) in the Scripture of Abraham. Lo! he was a saint, a prophet.

[19:42]
When he said unto his father: O my father! Why worshippest thou that which heareth not nor seeth, nor can in aught avail thee ?

[19:43]
O my father! Lo! there hath come unto me of knowledge that which came not unto thee. So follow me, and I will lead thee on a right path.

[19:44]
O my father! Serve not the devil. Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent.

[19:45]
O my father! Lo! I fear lest a punishment from the Beneficent overtake thee so that thou become a comrade of the devil.

[19:46]
He said: Rejectest thou my gods, O Abraham ? If thou cease not, I shall surely stone thee. Depart from me a long while!

[19:47]
He said: Peace be unto thee! I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for thee. Lo! He was ever gracious unto me.

[19:48]
I shall withdraw from you and that unto which ye pray beside Allah, and I shall pray unto my Lord. It may be that, in prayer unto my Lord, I shall not be unblest.

[19:49]
So, when he had withdrawn from them and that which they were worshipping beside Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob. Each of them We made a prophet.

[19:50]
And we gave them of Our mercy, and assigned to them a high and true renown.

[19:51]
And make mention in the Scripture of Moses. Lo! he was chosen, and he was a messenger (of Allah), a prophet.

[19:52]
We called him from the right slope of the Mount, and brought him nigh in communion.

[19:53]
And We bestowed upon him of Our mercy his brother Aaron, a prophet (likewise).

[19:54]
And make mention in the Scripture of Ishmael. Lo! he was a keeper of his promise, and he was a messenger (of Allah), a prophet.

[19:55]
He enjoined upon his people worship and almsgiving, and was acceptable in the sight of his Lord.

[19:56]
And make mention in the Scripture of Idris. Lo! he was a saint, a prophet;

[19:57]
And We raised him to high station.

[19:58]
These are they unto whom Allah showed favour from among the prophets, of the seed of Adam and of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Noah, and of the seed of Abraham and Israel, and from among those whom We guided and chose. When the revelations of the Beneficent were recited unto them, they fell down, adoring and weeping.

[19:59]
Now there hath succeeded them a later generation whom have ruined worship and have followed lusts. But they will meet deception.

[19:60]
Save him who shall repent and believe and do right. Such will enter the Garden, and they will not be wronged in aught –

[19:61]
Gardens of Eden, which the Beneficent hath promised to His slaves in the unseen. Lo! His promise is ever sure of fulfilment –

[19:62]
They hear therein no idle talk, but only Peace; and therein they have food for morn and evening.

[19:63]
Such is the Garden which We cause the devout among Our bondmen to inherit.

[19:64]
We (angels) come not down save by commandment of thy Lord. Unto Him belongeth all that is before us and all that is behind us and all that is between those two, and thy Lord was never forgetful –

[19:65]
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them! Therefor, worship thou Him and be thou steadfast in His service. Knowest thou one that can be named along with Him ?

[19:66]
And man saith: When I am dead, shall I forsooth be brought forth alive ?

[19:67]
Doth not man remember that We created him before, when he was naught ?

[19:68]
And, by thy Lord, verily We shall assemble them and the devils, then We shall bring them, crouching, around hell.

[19:69]
Then We shall pluck out from every sect whichever of them was most stubborn in rebellion to the Beneficent.

[19:70]
And surely We are Best Aware of those most worthy to be burned therein.

[19:71]
There is not one of you but shall approach it. That is a fixed ordinance of thy Lord.

[19:72]
Then We shall rescue those who kept from evil, and leave the evil- doers crouching there.

[19:73]
And when Our clear revelations are recited unto them, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Which of the two parties (yours or ours) is better in position, and more imposing as an army ?

[19:74]
How many a generation have We destroyed before them, who were more imposing in respect of gear and outward seeming!

[19:75]
Say: As for him who is in error, the Beneficent will verily prolong his span of life until, when they behold that which they were promised, whether it be punishment (in the world), or the Hour (of doom), they will know who is worse in position and who is weaker as an army.

[19:76]
Allah increaseth in right guidance those who walk aright, and the good deeds which endure are better in thy Lord’s sight for reward, and better for resort.

[19:77]
Hast thou seen him who disbelieveth in Our revelations and saith: Assuredly I shall be given wealth and children ?

[19:78]
Hath he perused the Unseen, or hath he made a pact with the Beneficent ?

[19:79]
Nay, but We shall record that which he saith and prolong for him a span of torment.

[19:80]
And We shall inherit from him that whereof he spake, and he will come unto Us, alone (without his wealth and children).

[19:81]
And they have chosen (other) gods beside Allah that they may be a power for them.

[19:82]
Nay, but they will deny their worship of them, and become opponents unto them.

[19:83]
Seest thou not that We have set the devils on the disbelievers to confound them with confusion ?

[19:84]
So make no haste against them (O Muhammad). We do but number unto them a sum (of days).

[19:85]
On the day when We shall gather the righteous unto the Beneficent, a goodly company.

[19:86]
And drive the guilty unto hell, a weary herd,

[19:87]
They will have no power of intercession, save him who hath made a covenant with his Lord.

[19:88]
And they say: The Beneficent hath taken unto Himself a son.

[19:89]
Assuredly ye utter a disastrous thing

[19:90]
Whereby almost the heavens are torn, and the earth is split asunder and the mountains fall in ruins,

[19:91]
That ye ascribe unto the Beneficent a son,

[19:92]
When it is not meet for (the Majesty of) the Beneficent that He should choose a son.

[19:93]
There is none in the heavens and the earth but cometh unto the Beneficent as a slave.

[19:94]
Verily He knoweth them and numbereth them with (right) numbering.

[19:95]
And each one of them will come unto Him on the Day of Resurrection, alone.

[19:96]
Lo! those who believe and do good works, the Beneficent will appoint for them love.

[19:97]
And We make (this Scripture) easy in thy tongue, (O Muhammad) only that thou mayst bear good tidings therewith unto those who ward off (evil), and warn therewith the froward folk.

[19:98]
And how many a generation before them have We destroyed! Canst thou (Muhammad) see a single man of them, or hear from them the slightest sound ?

Mary in Islam

  • Shuruq Naguib mentions a range of different aspects of Mary’s reputation in Islam. These include views of Mary as:

    • a perfect servant of God: elected and ‘purified’ by God

    • known for her righteousness

    • dedicated by her mother to the service of God even before she was born

    • the mother of a prophet (Jesus)

    • a sign of God and a messenger in her own right; though there are ongoing debates among Muslims whether Mary herself can be regarded as a prophet

    • a human being with fears, doubts and concerns, exemplifying human suffering

    • a mother

    • a lonely and isolated figure who had to deal with accusations of shame and dishonour in her local community as a pregnant unmarried woman and single mother

    • challenging social expectations of the time: women were usually excluded from the temple and prophets were expected to be male

    • a symbol of power and liberty

    • an important figure in popular devotion

    • a very special figure with spiritual powers, who continues to support people in their daily lives and helps them overcome problems (including fertility problems) up to the present day.

  • Egypt has a large Muslim and Christian population. Many Muslims in Egypt visit sites of Christian shrines dedicated to Mary. Shuruq Naguib explains that she knows many Muslim women who visit Marian shrines hoping to overcome fertility problems. She also mentions the example of a Marian apparition that allegedly happened in the district of El Zeitoun in Cairo in the late 1960s, which was reported on national television and was witnessed and celebrated by both Christians and Muslims. She argues that reports of this apparition brought together Muslims and Christians across Egypt and was widely regarded as a national sign of hope for a better future.

Discovering arts an humanities

Jenifer Sinclair says Mary the mother of Jesus plays an important roles in a range of religious traditions including Islam.
To find out more about Mary practices by Islam she spoke to shuruq Nation.

So she begun by asking what role does Mary have in Islam?
She says Mary is a very important figure in Islam, in the Quran regulations.

She features as one of the key figures with other prophets.
Mayhem in the Islamic belief was a way of connecting Christianity and stories,

that Christian Arab tribes knew about.

What role does Mary play in the Quran Jenifer asks?

She is described as purified and elected as an perfect servant of God, she was concentrated by her mother before she was born.

In chapter three of the Quran we know about mayhem the mother, who was also a righteous woman, during her pregnancy she dedicated the child to the service of God.
Expecting the child to be a male. Then she bewildered, because God accepted the female infant to serve in his temple an the temple only allows male or children in general.

So God upsets the social practice of

excluding women from the temple.

So she grows up with her righteous along with the Israelites.

What way in Islam is Mary seen as special in Islam?

Maryhem Is not just the mother of jesus, maryhem is a sign of God on her own right, maryhem an Mohammed received the angel Gabberiele she was the angel of god’s word.

She’s featured in the Quran in a way that none of the other woman features are described.

When reading the Quran you can’t help but see that maryhem is well elevated against other prophets.

The word prophet which maryhem had in Islam only the men had, so using this description for maryhem should be looked at as a major superiority.

The figure of men where chosen t be the prophet of God.
Figure maryhem was power from Muslim women today.

Mary has been understood was human being, in Islam an how human qualities are described in the Quran.
Mary was also a mother in the Quran which was described in detail she was on her own.

It’s very sad description because during the child birth the Quran tells us wat she actually said an felt, she felt very lonely, she was isolated herself from people, because she knew people would think that she done something wrong,

she committed a sin because she’s pregnant without marriage.

She had all the sense of shame an dishonour.
The feeling of excommunication of the community.

Despite god’s given angel she’s still worried an sad.
She cry’s in the Quran, she’s says I wish I was a forgotten thing.

Jesus was born so he assures hr during his infanty that he is god’s messenger.

That she does not need to be sad. She’s a human being despite perfect she has her fears her doubts about the situation as a mother also bearing this on her own.

Egypt has a lot of Christian about 13 million Christians, both an Muslims in the egypt community.

It wasn’t unusual for Muslim to visit the Christian religion.
They just wanted to receive the holy gift of mother Mary. it seemed as egypt recovery from the war 1967 when Israel, defated egypt,

So people had felt a national sense of frustration, it was a bit like after the second world war, an it was a sense of how we gonna build up the country an pride again.

So the operation of maryhem was an act of support Egyptians and to promise them of victory an a better future.

Many people believed in her, she was very important popular devotion.

She not just a figure of the past, she is with us, she belong to the spiritual world.

Shuruq Nation, has given a tremendous insight to how the Quran celebrate mother Mary.

As we have heard second hand stories, as they come cheap.

But shuruq has made this exceptional. Very professional as a teacher.
It’s shows ethicality an Morales to both religious beliefs.
I’m am overwhelmed to hear her voice an opinions.

Love life or Love lost?

Feeling anxious or falling into depression perhaps.

Look what I did. I didn’t Prevail.

Monday 28th January 2020

The

21st January 2020

I arrived in Essex.
In a rural posh one bedroom apartment, a house built in the postmodernism.

I’ve struggled to keep my head above water.

Very almost deep depression, but I found reading, art work an gospel music.

Helping me with my men’s Rea abilitations.

I found it rather therapeutic.

2018 I arrived in Hertfordshire, Hatfield, November as Brexit’ was alive.

  1. Following Parliament, studying constitutional law
  2. Criminal law.
  3. Further Bible studies.

I got myself into a therapeutic relationship, which I fort at first was recipcorated.

I lost love an vision.
We parted.

Justin an suezzane is no more.

I kept plucking away at straws awaiting my open university application to be accepted.

November came just before Christmas, 2019. I received a email saying I have been accepted into open university, academic integrity:Arts and humanities.

I didn’t gasp, or jump for joy. I didn’t believe it was true.
Usually nothing in life turns out to be great.

Later in December, it showed I’ve been accepted.

I couldn’t await for January to start. To see if it was actually true.
It’s initial start day was Sunday this week.

It’s phenomenal, I was so anxious to see what’s in store.

But my reading abilities have got better an more observed to take notes.

The building life of Proclamation News and Gatherence..

Back to Independent Professor Johnson.

Let’s hope I get to see my kids soon.

But keeping focused and grounded.

2020 is my year of hope.

Nothing will destroy me if it hasn’t yet.

Proclamation News and Gatherence

I’m Professor Johnson, I’ve spent days, hours on my own,

But failing that I’m self Maintained I’ve become self Independent.

I sit an become very diplomatic, I’ve become in control of my own thoughts.

Some may say crazy thoughts, but failing that. It’s giving you a different outlook to life, isn’t it?

You can do it all alone.

You don’t have to be Prominent to succeed..

To have success, you have to gain a focus.

I have a question for you?

You go to the opticians for an eye check, to make sure your vision is ok, to see if you need glasses or not. I’ve sat here looking at the sky. ABIT peculiar I know.

But have you ever thought how tall is the sky?

But the opticians say you need glasses, but I can see the sky, the clouds, the moon . The emotions of the atmosphere, clouds, rain an sun.

How far away is the sky from what you can see?
The highest clouds are no higher than 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) above ground, so that altitude could be considered the “height of the sky”. Others might argue it is the boundary between the atmosphere and space, which scientists give as 100 kilometres (62 miles) above ground.

In a sense, the sky is the atmosphere. If you are looking up on a cloudless day when the sun is shining, the sky appears to be a blue dome stretching from horizon to horizon. This is real but also an illusion just as a rainbow is an illusion. The rainbow appears to be a way off. But a rainbow is real and so is the sky. It is the way human brain processes the information reaching it from your eyes.

Proclamation News and Gatherence

US basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna are among nine people killed in a helicopter crash in the city of Calabasas, California.

.

Bryant, a five-time NBA champion, played for the LA Lakers throughout his career and is considered one of the greatest players in the game’s history.

. Tributes from celebrities and fellow sports stars have been pouring in, many expressing shock at his sudden death.

Moments of silence have been observed at basketball games across the US.

Bryant has also been remembered at the Grammy Awards which are being held at the Los Angeles Lakers’ stadium.

“We’re all feeling crazy sadness right now,” said Grammys host Alicia Keys.

“Because earlier today Los Angeles, America and the whole wide world lost a hero. We’re literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built.”

The NBA issued a statement saying it was “devastated by the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna”.

“For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning,” it said.

What do we know about the crash?

Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the helicopter manifest indicated that nine people were on board when it crashed, raising the number from five in earlier statements by officials.

In a statement on Sunday afternoon, the City of Calabasas said it heard the news “with great sadness”.

“The aircraft went down in a remote field off Las Virgenes around 10:00 this morning. Nobody on the ground was hurt,” it added.

Gavin Masak, who lives nearby, told CBS News of the moment the helicopter crashed.

“It wasn’t exactly like an explosion sound but it was like a loud boom. It sounded like a helicopter, but it sounded like a jet, like it was loud, so I went inside and told my dad what was happening. So when I came out I saw smoke on the hill but it wasn’t like a big, black cloud of smoke, it was just grey,” he said.

Other eyewitnesses told celebrity news site TMZ they heard the helicopter’s engine sputtering before it went down.

The LA County Sheriff’s Department shared pictures from the scene of the accident, showing a fire truck and smoke emerging from the hills.

The National Transportation Safety Board identified the crashed helicopter as a Sikorsky S-76B and said it was sending a team to investigate the crash.

Police have asked people to stay away from the crash site in order not to interfere with the investigation.

Who was Bryant?

Bryant played his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers. He retired in April 2016.

His achievements include being the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player and two-time NBA Finals MVP. He was also NBA scoring champion twice and a two-time Olympic champion.

He famously scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors in 2006, the second-highest single-game total in NBA history.

He also won an Oscar for best short animated film in 2018 for Dear Basketball, a five-minute film based on a love letter to the sport he had written in 2015.

Bryant and his wife, Vanessa, have three other daughters, Natalia, Bianca and Capri.

Bryant was accused of sexual assault in 2003 by a 19-year-old woman working at a Colorado resort. He denied the allegation, saying the two had consensual sex. The case was dropped after the accuser refused to testify in court.

He later apologised, saying he recognised that “she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did.” A subsequent civil suit was settled out of court.

What has the reaction been?

Tributes for the sports star poured in on social media following news of the crash.

Shaquille O’Neal, who played alongside Bryant at the Lakers between 1996 and 2004, said there were “no words to express the pain I’m going through”.

“I love you and you will be missed,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair in their Lakers kits.

Deron Williams, who won an Olympic gold alongside Bryant, said he was lost for words. He described Bryant as “the greatest competitor I have ever gone up against and played with.”

Former basketball player Tony Parker said he was “heartbroken”.

“Terrible news,” tweeted US President Donald Trump.

“He loved his family so much, and had such strong passion for the future. The loss of his beautiful daughter, Gianna, makes this moment even more devastating.”

Former US President Barack Obama described Bryant as “a legend on the court” and said he was “just getting started in what would have been just as meaningful a second act”.

Eight-time Olympic gold medallist sprinter Usain Bolt said he could not believe the news.

Rapper Kanye West tweeted his appreciation for “the life you’ve lived and all the inspiration you gave”.

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling wrote “rest easy legend” in a tweet accompanied by a black-and-white photo of the sports star.

“This is absolutely terrible. Everyone is numb,” American actress and model Chrissy Teigen tweeted.

Pop star Mariah Carey said she was in shock.

Fans gathered at a makeshift memorial for Bryant in front of the Staples Center sports and entertainment arena in Los Angeles, laying flowers and basketballs in memory of the star.

What will Brexit mean for your money? Key questions answered

From pensions to studying, here’s what will happen after the UK leaves at 11pm on Friday.

It finally happens at 11pm on 31 January. The UK will no longer formally be a part of the European Union, a moment that is likely to prove emotional for many, whichever side of the debate you are on. But what, if anything, is the real and immediate impact on your life? On your travel plans, finances, education, consumer rights and even your phone usage on holiday?

The reality is that the UK will remain in the EU’s single market as negotiations proceed regarding the future trading relationship. During this transitional period, which is expected to last until 31 December, EU law will remain in force.

Note that this does not mean that everything can still be turned upside down at the end of December this year.

It is important to know that when commentators talk about a “no deal” still being on the table at the end of December, this is not the dramatic cliff edge that people referred to last year.

The withdrawal agreement, or Brexit deal, that Boris Johnson reached with the EU last October enshrines in law all the rights and legislation pertaining to the three areas of negotiation in the first phase of Brexit talks. These were: the Irish border; EU citizens rights; and the divorce bill.

Even if trade talks break down this year, and the EU and the UK cannot agree on the remaining issues, this will not impact on these three areas.

What are your thoughts over Brexit’?

Me personally I think will take back some dominant control over the UK, such as like Australia. Anyone seriously read the Bible have an understanding?

Man was the destroyer of the world.

If we don’t put a formula to stop population growth, then this would of been a Purposive, a certainty.

Because more population

further rakereering, arson, knife crimes, Terrorism. A such as Brexit’ will give us a slight more empowerment to our democracy. Please if you have any added suggestions or support to back my story then no problems feel free to supply and demand. ..?…

It

is also worth noting that the reason the withdrawal agreement has been such a battleground is because it will be, in a matter of days, a legally binding international treaty that the UK and the EU must abide by under international law.

It means that the rights of EU citizens in the UK and British citizens settled in the EU are protected for life, beyond the 31 December negotiation deadline.

All that remains is for the European parliament to ratify it formally by 29 January for it to be an international treaty.

I retired to Spain. Will my state pension still go up every year?

Pensioners who have already retired to an EU country – with Spain the most popular – can heave a huge sigh of relief. They had been concerned that under a no-deal Brexit their pension could be “frozen” at the date of leaving the EU, with no further increases.

Former pensions minister Ros Altmann says: “Current UK pensioners in Europe are guaranteed lifelong state pension uprating: the withdrawal agreement has negotiated reciprocal rights for state pensions to increase in line with those paid in the UK. People’s fears of having their pensions frozen can now be allayed. The government should now reassure these pensioners that, whatever happens after 2020, they have lifelong state pension uprating.”

However, the withdrawal agreement does not cover those who retire to Europe after 2020. The government says it is aiming to agree reciprocal arrangements with the EU for the next phase of the UK’s departure. But if it fails to do so by year end, says Altmann, and the implementation period is not extended, future UK pensioners in Europe could have their state pensions frozen.

Altmann says there is an “urgent need” for the government for the government to better inform existing pensioners. “I am delighted that there is now protection for the 650,000 or so worried British citizens living in European countries. I also hope that the next phase of Brexit will agree reciprocity by end 2020.”

Arriving in the EU: which passport queue will you have to join?

Nearly all EU airports operate two channels for arrivals – telling passengers to go through either the EU channel or the (usually much slower) non-EU queue. Officially from 1 February the British are no longer in the EU, but fortunately they will be told to continue to go through the EU queue. What happens after 31 December is much less clear: the Republic of Ireland said there would be a combined EU/UK channel, but other governments are still deciding.

At Dublin airport, for example – where UK passport holders make up around a third of arrivals – the authorities said: “UK passport holders will continue to be processed by Irish immigration through the EU channel post 31 January. After the end of the transition period at the end of the year, given the common travel area, the signage will be amended and UK passport holders will then go through a combined EU/UK channel rather than a non-EU channel.”

The common travel area is a free movement convention between the UK and Ireland that predates the UK joining the EU.

We asked other EU governments what their approach will be. In a statement, the Dutch ministry of defence said: “During the transition period, expected to start 1 February, the procedure for border checks will remain unchanged. This means that UK travellers can still use the e-gates and/or join the EU+EEA [European Economic Area] channel. After the transition period ends, UK travellers will be subject to more thorough checks as third-country nationals.”

The Spanish government said everything would remain the same for British travellers this summer – and UK tourists could continue to use e-gates as before.

Will you now be allowed to buy cheap booze in the duty-free shop?

No. During the transition period, which runs until at least 31 December, the rules on what goods you can bring into the UK from the EU remain the same. So on the one hand, you can still take the car to Calais on a booze cruise and return loaded with cheap wine. But on the other, you cannot go into duty-free zone at airports and pay the reduced duty price on alcohol and cigarettes that travellers to, say, North America or Asia currently benefit from.

Will I be able to rely on a European health insurance card this summer?

Yes. The EHIC, which gives you state-provided healthcare in the EU for free or at reduced cost until you return home, will continue to work as before until the end of December this year. The UK has issued about 27 million of the cards, and you can still apply for a free one – type “NHS EHIC” into Google and don’t fall for any of the dodgy websites that charge fees.

What happens after December? It could continue to work as now, but will depend on what is decided in the negotiations. Note that the EHIC is not the same as a travel insurance policy, and you should still buy holiday cover for your summer break.

Will I need a new blue UK passport?

No. There will be no change to the British passport, though the UK government has started replacing the EU burgundy covers with blue ones.

Will mobile phone firms still offer free roaming after 31 December?

Arguably the one thing even the most rabid Brexiters will miss, is how the EU’s roaming rules have allowed mobile users to use their handsets “as if at home” while travelling in another EU country. Britons heading abroad this year will still be able to use their UK calls and data allowance while on holiday.

Calls back to the UK, to landline numbers and to other UK mobiles, will still have to be charged as if at home until 31 December. From 1 January 2021, there is nothing legally to stop roaming charges being reintroduced for UK travellers. The mobile operators have indicated they are working to keep the existing regime, but this is not guaranteed.

So far, only the Three network has committed to not reintroducing roaming to EU destinations. EE, the UK’s biggest network, told Money this week that had “no plans to change [current free roaming] based on the Brexit outcome”. O2 said it would be “working closely with the government and other European operators to try to protect the current arrangements”. Vodafone’s stance is almost identical.

If no government-level agreement is reached, it will then be up to the providers to negotiate agreements with each of the networks across the EU.

What happens if I apply for a course in the EU starting in September?

One of the big unknowns has been what will happen to students who start a three- to four-year degree course this coming September. Before Brexit, EU residents could study in any other European country and pay the same fees as if they originated in that country. There are 143,000 EU students studying here, and a smaller but significant number of UK undergraduates studying in EU countries – where they pay considerably lower fees than in Britain.

Most students studying in another EU country who have already started a course have been told they will continue to pay the same “home” fees as they paid in the first year. The British government has also pledged that EU students arriving in the UK to start a course this September will pay the home fees rate – up to £9,250 a year – for the course’s duration.

This compares with the £30,000-plus fees paid by international students, that they might otherwise have been forced to pay. Crucially, because EU nationals are treated as “home” applicants, they also gain access to the local student finance scheme.

It has been less clear as to what will happen to British students starting courses in an EU country this coming autumn – many of whom will be applying right now. In the Netherlands, a big draw for UK students, those already on courses could be given the same home fee promise.

A spokesman for the Dutch government told Money that UK students starting courses this September would pay the home fees – currently €2,043 (£1,722) a year – for the course’s duration provided they remain living and registered in the Netherlands.

Without this pledge, British nationals would have to pay international student fees of between €8,000-€15,000 a year. Students arriving after 31 December, will be treated as international students and pay the higher fees, the Dutch government confirmed.

Will my UK driving licence be acceptable in the EU?

Had the UK crashed out of the EU without a deal, Britons taking their car to most European countries this year would have required an international drivers permit – in some cases two – and to travel with a green card proving their car was insured. The fact that we are now in “transition” means drivers need only produce their UK licence, and their existing UK insurance documents, if asked.

Drivers still need to take their V5 ownership document, and a GB sticker is still required. After 31 December – and the end of the transition period – drivers permits and green cards will be required, unless an agreement is struck by the government and the EU. A mutual agreement recognising driving licences/insurance between the EU and UK is likely, but by no means guaranteed. Watch this space.

How do we go about further pursuit in a civilization democracy

UK police constables say “it may harm your defence if you do not answer, when asked, something that you later rely on in court.” How does this differ from the US statement “you have the right to remain silent”? Do you have to speak to UK police?

Imagine you are walking down the road carrying a TV. The police have been called because of a burglary in the area and they stop you. They ask you whose TV it is and where you got it. You say nothing, so they decide to arrest you and read you your rights.

You’ve got a bit of form and so you don’t get bail. You are remanded in prison for nine months until the case comes to court. Then, when you are in the dock, you say the TV belonged to your aunt – now sadly deceased – and you were taking it to be fixed for her.

In the US that would be that, the prosecution couldn’t make any negative comments about your silence when arrested. In the UK though the prosecution, and the judge, could both ask the jury to consider why you chose to spend three quarters of a year in prison rather than give the police the phone number of your aunt, and to ask themselves if this means you may not be being completely honest now.
